Fönn is a 4 km cross-country ski trail through Kjarnaskógur.

Fönn, fönn, fönn, fönn, the Icelandic fönn song by Raggi Gísli. We rejoice in fönn because there you can ski. Fönn, like other Súlur Vertical cross-country ski competitions, has its roots in the Hermannsgöngun, which was named after the sportsman and ski enthusiast Hermann Sigtryggsson.

The launch will take place in Kjarnaskógur on January 17, 2026.

Track description:

The walk begins and ends at Kjarnatún above the parking lot at Kjarnakot. The Trimmbraut trail is followed clockwise, turning up Naustaborgarleið and then into the campsite at Hamri. From there, walk onto Skógarleið and then back onto Trimmbraut above Sólúrið. Slide down to Sólúrið and continue in a curve down Kjarnatún to the finish.
