Mjöll is a 12 km cross-country ski trail through Kjarnaskógur and Naustaborgir.

Mjöll, like other Súlur Vertical cross-country ski competitions, traces its roots to the Hermannsgöngunnar, which was named after the sports enthusiast and ski enthusiast Hermann Sigtryggsson.

The launch will take place in Kjarnaskógur on January 17, 2026.

Track description:

The walk begins and ends at Kjarnatún above the parking lot at Kjarnakot. Follow the Trimmbrautinn clockwise, then enter Naustaborgareilð and follow it north, where the highest elevation is on the path. After about 3.1 km, turn left (north) towards Naustasel and then continue all the way to the northeast corner of Naustaborgi. Follow Naustaborgareilð back/south until you reach Skjólborg after 5.6 km. There, turn left/south onto a newly made easy path above the campsite and there is a slight climb where the frisbee golf course is crossed. Then walk through a flat area west and south of the campsite until you enter Skógarleið. There, the flow mostly picks up and you return to the Trimmbrautinn above Sólúrið. Slide down to Sólúrið and continue in a curve down Kjarnatún through the mark, at which point you have completed about 8 km. Continue on another loop of about 4 km, the same route as before, but before the climb on the Naustaborgarleiðinn turn right into the campsite at Hamri. From there, walk onto Skógarleið and then back onto Trimmbraut above Sólúrið. Slide down to Sólúrið and continue in a curve down Kjarnatún to the finish.
